Easy Old Fashioned Apple Sauce

Yield Recipe: 4 Servings

3 TB butter
6 Macintosh apples, cored, peeled and chopped
1/4 c sugar
1 ts cinnamon
1/2 ts nutmeg
4 TB water

Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and cook over medium heat until apples become very tender, about 30 minutes. Applesauce may be left lumpy or pureed with a handblender to become smoother.

Recipe for Applesauce 'n' Spice Bread

2 c All purpose flour
1 ts Baking soda
1/2 ts Baking powder
1/4 ts Salt
1/2 ts Cinnamon
1/2 ts Nutmeg
1/4 ts Allspice
1 c Sugar
1/2 c Veg oil
1 1/4 c Applesauce
2 Eggs
3 tb Milk
1/2 c Chpd pecans


1/4 c Chpd pecans
1/4 c Brown sugar
1/2 ts Cinnamon

Preheat oven 350F. Sift flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and spices together. In lg bowl combine sugar, oil, applesauce, eggs, and milk. Stir the dry ingreds into apple sacue mixture; stir in the 1/2c pecans. Pour into greased 9x5" loaf pan. Mix topping ingreds thoroughly and sprinkle over batter. Bake 1-1 1/4 hrs or until pick inserted comes out clean. Cool in pan.

Applesauce Spice Cake

3 c Water, divided
1 1/4 c Raisins
2 1/2 c Unsweetened apple sauce
3 Eggs, beaten
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 c Vegetable oil
3 c Self-rising flour
3 tb Ground cinnamon
1/4 ts Baking soda
2 tb Vanilla extract
Vegetable cooking spray

Preheat oven to 350F. Combine 2 1/2 cups water and raisins in a small Dutch oven; bring to a boil. Boil until water evaporates or is absorbed by raisins. Remove from heat. Add applesauce, eggs, sugar substitute, oil, and remaining 1/2 cup water. Stir until well combined.

Sift together flour, cinnamon, and soda; gradually add to applesauce mixture with vanilla, stirring after each addition. Spoon batter into a 10-inch Bundt pan coated with spray. Bake at 350F for 40 to 45 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes; remove from pan, and cool on a wire rack.

Applesauce Raisin Bread Recipe

3 Eggs
1 1/2 c Sugar
1 c Oil
2 c Apple sauce
2 ts Vanilla
3 c Flour
1/2 ts Baking powder
1 ts Salt
3 ts Cinnamon
1 ts Nutmeg
3/4 c Coconut
1/2 c Nuts
1 c Raisins

Preheat oven to 350F. Mix together first 5 ingredients; set aside. Mix together the dry ingredients in another bowl and pour thin batter into it. Grease 2 bread tins, bake in oven for about 60 minutes, check with toothpick.

Steamed Applesauce Cake

1/2 c Butter or margarine
1 c Brown sugar
1 c Applesauce
2 1/2 c Flour
1/2 ts Baking soda
1/2 ts Salt
1 ts Baking powder
1/2 ts Cinnamon
1/2 ts Ground cloves
1/4 ts Nutmeg -- (opt.)
1/4 ts Allspice -- (opt.)
1 c Walnuts -- chopped

In bowl cream butter; gradually add sugar to the creamed butter. Thoroughly mix until fluffy. Add applesauce. Sift together all dry ingredients, then add those to the mixture. Add the nuts, and stir well. Pour cake mixture into wide-mouth canning jars.

WARNING: Please use only canning jars that are specially tempered. Do not use cans or other jars that may not be appropriate for this method due to lead content. Or, use a special crockpot baking pan available thruough Rival Co. To assure that baked cakes will slip out easily, grease inside of jars well. (Lining bottom of jars with waxed paper also will help.)

Cover each jar with a piece of foil greased on one side. Place greased side down and press foil around edges to seal tightly. Place jars in crockpot with crockery liner in place. Cover; cook on high-heat setting for 2 3/4 to 3 hours or till cakes spring back when touched and a wooden tothpick inserted near the centers comes out clean.

Remove jars from cooker; cool 10 minutes. Unmold cakes; remove waxed paper. Serve warm or cool with whipped topping, if desired.

Apple Sauce Brownies Recipe

1/3 c Vegetable oil
1/2 c Unsweetened applesauce
1/2 c Unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 c Sugar
1 c All-purpose flour
1 ts Baking powder
1/2 ts Baking soda
2 lg Eggs
1 ts Vanilla extract
1/4 c Chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 375 F. Combine oil, applesauce and cocoa. Add sugar and stir until dissolved. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix dry ingredients together and stir into the mixture.

Pour the batter into a greased and floured (or wax paper lined & sprayed) 9 inch square pan. Sprinkle on nuts.

Bake about 20 to 30 minutes or until top is set but edges are not dried out. Toothpick will come out clean.

Applesauce Walnut Cake

1 pk Butter recipe golden cake - mix
1/2 c Butter or margarine; soften
1 1/3 c Apple sauce
3 Eggs
1 ts Cinnamon
2 1/2 oz Black walnuts; chopped

Preheat oven to 375F. Grease and flour 2, 9 x 1 1/2" round cake pans.

Put dry cake mix, butter, applesauce, eggs and cinnamon into large mixer bowl.

Beat for 4 minutes at medium speed. Stir in black walnuts. Turn batter into pans and spread evenly.

Bake for 30-35 minutes. Frost with a Mocha Frosting.

Easy Apple Sauce Cake

1 3/4 c Cake Flour; sifted
1 ts Baking Powder
1/4 ts Soda
1/2 ts Salt
1 ts Cinnamon
1/2 ts Cloves
1/2 c Butter; or shortening
1 c Sugar
1 Egg; well beaten
1 c Raisins; fine cut
1 c Nut meats; chopped
3/4 c Apple sauce; strained/hot

Preheat oven to 350F. Sift flour once, measure, add baking powder, soda, salt, and spices, and sift together three times.

Cream butter thoroughly, add sugar gradually, and cream together until light and fluffy. Add egg, raisins, and nuts and beat well. Add flour mixture, alternately with apple sauce, a small amount at a time, beating after each addition until smooth.

Bake in greased loaf pan, 9-1/2 x 5-1/2x 3 inches, in moderate oven 350F for 1 hour, or until done.
