Easy Lace Valentine Heart

Stiff wire
Lace with seam tape binding (ie. eyelet)
Ribbons, bows, or other decorations
Glue, optional (use the tacky kind not the hot kind)

You need a piece of moldable, but kind of stiff wire, and twice the length of a lace (lace that has a seam tape binding, like most eyelet laces). Thread the wire through the lace and wrap the wire ends together. Mold the wire into a heart shape.

Add ribbons, bows, or other appropriate decorations by tying on or gluing.

Puffy Valentine Hearts Wreath Craft

Paper bag
Fibre fill or kleenex or fabric scraps
Misc fabric scraps, ribbon, stickers, glitter, sequins

Cut out hearts from a paper bag. Cut two of each, and have the kids glue them together, leaving a small opening. Stuff the heart with fiber fill or Kleenex or fabric scraps, then glue the opening shut (don't stuff too much). Decorate with fabric scraps, old lace pieces, cutouts from doilies, ribbon, stickers, glitter, sequins, etc.

Make enough of these, and not too big, then hot glue them to a cheap wreath and make a valentines wreath! Add a bow, some ribbon or raffia, and some valentines day picturez to finish the look.

Valentine Sun Catcher Craft

Construction paper
Clear contact paper
Various coloured tissue paper

Fold over a sheet of construction paper. Trace your child's hand with fingers outspread & cut out (you will have two hands). Place first hand on a square of clear contact paper. Have your child stick small squares of various colored tissue paper all around the hand print (even between the fingers).

Be sure the paper is well covered for best color. Glue the second hand on top of the first matching up finger to finger (this ensures that the suncatcher is two-sided). Top with a second square of clear contact paper. Cut into a heart shape with the hand at the center. Punch a hole in the top & insert a yarn hanger.

Easy Craft Valentine's Day Cards

Red, white, pink or purple construction paper
White glue
Crayons or colored pens

Cut two large hearts for the main part of the card, one red and one white, with the white one just a little bit smaller than the red. Fold a piece of construction paper in half lengthwise (so it's still tall). Then cut out half a heart shape.

Unfold the hearts and glue the white one inside the red one. That's your basic Valentine's Day card. Now you can decorate the front, back and inside any way you want.

1 cup water, divided in two
1/2 tsp. food coloring

4. Roll small amounts of the soap mixture into balls. Use your hands to do this.
5. Place the finished soap balls on a foil-covered cookie sheet.

Easy Accordion Valentine Hearts Craft

Heavy construction paper
Paper doilies
Wrapping paper
Colored markers or paints

To start, cut a long narrow rectangle from heavy paper, then fold it into four equal squares, accordion-style. Then glue down a different heart for each square, using photographs, wrapping paper or other paper. If desired, a border can be created with a thin line from various markers or watercolors that have been unevenly mixed so that they form a changing, rainbow border.

Easy Valentine Heart Magnets

1 cup of salt
1/3 cup of water
1/2 cup of cornstarch
1/4 cup of cold water
Food coloring and/or tempera paints
Heart cookie cutter
Store bought magnets and/or pin backings
Hot glue gun

Make the clay:

Heat salt and 1/3 cup of water over medium high heat for 4 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat and add cornstarch and 1/4 cup of cold water. The mixture should look like thick mashed potatoes, stir until it thickens, then let cool for a few minutes before kneading. If the dough seems too sticky at first work in extra cornstarch as you knead. Add food coloring if you desire.

Using a rolling pin or hands flatten the dough to 1/2 inch to 1/4 inch thickness depending on your preference. Using the cookie cutter cut out hearts. Place them on a piece of plastic wrap or waxed paper and let dry. They should stand and dry for 1-4 days.

After the hearts are dried completely, they are ready to be painted. Using the paints decorate the hearts. Be creative. After the paint has dried you can varnish or shellac them for a shiny finish. Using the hot glue gun attach the magnet or pin backing.

Amazing Sparkling Valentine Heart

Heavy paper
Red, pink or white paint
Table salt

Paint a large heart with red, pink or white paint. While the paint is still damp, sprinkle some salt over the painting. The heart will sparkle when it dries.

Magic Valentines

Paper Clips
2 Sheets of White Paper
Various Sizes of Paper Hearts

Put hearts on 1 sheet of paper and place other sheet on top, paper clip together to keep them from slipping, rub the side of the crayon over the surface of the paper. Hearts will appear like "magic".

Valentine Day Candy Craft Candle

1 York Peppermint Pattie
1 Roll Lifesavers
Hershey Kiss
Other candies
Ribbon for decorating
Cellophane tape

For the base, take the Peppermint Pattie and wrap it in foil or fold the corners under and tape. Glue a bow to the top of the Peppermint patty. Cut out the center loop of the bow. Take the outer wrapping off the Lifesavers roll. Don't remove the foil wrap. Tape a Hershey Kiss to the end of the Lifesaver roll. This will create a candle.

You can use other types of rolled candy such as Mentos, Rolos, Spree etc. Tape the bottom of the candle into the bow where the center loop was removed. You can decorate the candle with ribbon or stickers. Tip: Use ribbon criss-crossed around the candy and to a red candle add a chocolate heart candy.

Valentine Puppet Craft

Red construction paper
4 Large rubber bands

  1. Cut two hearts of the same size from red construction paper. Make them bigger than your hand. Cut 4 1 inch hearts from the red paper for the puppet's hands and feet.
  2. Cut each of the rubber bands so that they form elastic strings. Glue the rubber bands to the sides and bottom of one of the large hearts to form the arms and legs of the puppet.
  3. Glue the tops of the two large hearts together with the ends of the rubber bands between them. Leave the bottom part open to slip your hand in.
  4. Glue a small heart to the end of each elastic arm and leg. When the puppet has dried completely, draw a face with markers.
